A Fantastic Vancouver band: We Are The City
Last week, I attended Pecha Kucha, a series of talks designed for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. This particular volume was about creativity in the food and wine industry. I quite enjoyed the event, but I was also surprised how much I liked the night’s musical act.
We Are The City is a band from Kelowna, BC. Their music is a weird mix of pop, alternative, and rock, sans any traditional structure. (Their website describes their sound as “progressive pop”, which is actually kinda acurate.)
At the event, they played several songs, each one sounding a little different. Some songs were a bit more emo indie, while some were more pop-leaning tracks driven by heavy drums and guitar. They’re all pretty talented, but the drummer definitely stands out for me.
Oh, and these kids can seriously bang their heads! They’re so into their music that you can’t help but be into it as well.
